About Me

Welcome to GrowStrides—a space where running, healthy living, and plant-powered fuel come together. My name is Terri, and I’m a passionate runner, marathoner, and advocate for a lifestyle that blends fitness with the nourishment of whole, plant-based foods. I’ve completed one ultramarathon and intend to do another one late 2026.

I’m grateful for the guidance I received in running. It took proper training and coaching for me to fall in love with running. The miles taught me discipline, resilience, and the joy of setting goals that once seemed impossible. Over the years, running has carried me through countless races—from fun runs to the Abbott World Marathon Majors, —each one shaping me into the athlete and person I am today.

About 4–5 years ago, I made another important shift: I transitioned to a plant-based diet. At first, it was a personal experiment to see how it might affect my energy, recovery, and overall health. What I found was life-changing. I felt lighter, recovered faster, and gained a deeper appreciation for food as fuel. The choice not only enhanced my performance as a runner, but also strengthened my commitment to long-term health and wellness.

But my journey doesn’t stop at running and nutrition. For the past 6 years, I’ve also developed a love for gardening. The years prior, our home had a very limited space to garden, hence, I gardened mostly in pots. Fast forward, I am blessed that we have an ample space now for backyard gardening using raised garden beds. There’s something incredibly rewarding about sowing a seed, nurturing it, and watching it grow into food that fuels both my body and my training. Gardening taught me patience, sustainability, and the value of knowing exactly what goes into the food I eat. Over time, it has become more than a hobby—it’s a lifestyle. It allows me to connect with the earth, share knowledge with others, and inspire healthier choices beyond the running community.

At GrowStrides, my goal is to bring all of these passions together. This is a space to share my passion for running and the lessons it continues to teach me. Here, you’ll find stories from my running journey, practical tips for thriving on a whole foods plant-based diet, and insights from my gardening adventures.
